I would describe my works as a kind of joyous visual poetry or music expressed in colour and design…. from moody and dark to light and playful. The thematic content of the works spans a variety of subjects such as abstracting urban architecture to ‘dreamscapes’ relating to music, dance, legend and folklore, the elemental forces; nostalgic impressions of vintage cars, scooters and bikes; explorations of shifting realities in space; simplicity in complexity; harmony in dissonance; expressions of joy and wonder.

The works are spontaneous responses to people, places and life in general, or they are the result of a search over an extended period of time. For me, the creative process can be compared to the act of writing a song or composing music. Inspiration can come from anywhere at any time. I try to stretch the possibilities of compositional tensions and dynamics, and explore the powerful vibrations of colour.

The act of painting is highly intuitive and has a therapeutic effect on me as it releases energies that provide me with the necessary equilibrium in my life. I have to paint just as I feel compelled to make music. When a work completes itself, I step back and view it objectively. It seems to speak with a logic and meaning entirely its own.”
